EAT THIS: SUSIE CAKES

Hello ! I've been on blogging hiatus since moving back to LA... :D I'm back to work, enjoying friends, taking in the outdoors, and favorite eateries (new and old !). It's wonderful.

Sunday was my birthday !!! It was a fantastic day of hiking, wonderful meals, a show at The Greek, and birthday sweets ! CUPCAKES. Not just any cupcakes either - SUSIE CAKES. My boyfriend and a couple of our friends have told me how good they are, but I hadn't tried them until this weekend. MB brought a half dozen (Red Velvet, Strawberry, Vanilla) to share with our friends, but I think I ate half of them... Their Vanilla cupcake is the best I've ever had. So buttery, moist, and the light, fluffy icing compliments the cake so perfectly. God, I love a good cupcake.

Does anyone watch Cupcake Wars? I really want to work on that show - even for a day. :) Any other cupcake lovers? Is there another LA baker I should seek out? Sweet Lady Jane (of course), Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Susie Cakes are at the top for me.

RECIPE: MEDITERRANEAN PIZZA

I made this pizza after having leftover filling for the spinach pastries I prepared for my November catering job. It's become a favorite in our house, so I thought I'd share it here.

I came across these images on Time.com the other day. What an incredible woman and remarkable talent. Her images are timeless. “I look for a sense of reality with everything I did,” she once said. “I didn’t work in a studio, I didn’t light anything. I found a way of working which pleased me because I didn’t have to frighten people with heavy equipment, it was that little black box and me.”

I found an old 210 Polaroid Land Camera while thrifting a month ago with 6 Polaroid film exposures ! It's like finding two treasures in one. I've been thinking a lot about what I want to capture on those black and white pieces of film. Eve's work and words are inspiring.
